Caribbean Social Immersion Program organizes social immersion to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba and Guyana.

8-day immersion program visiting rural communities around Quebradaseca, small village located one hour north of Cali, Colombia.
The program explores the contributions of the Jesuits to the rural communities of the “Valle del Cauca,” in the areas of economic empowerment and local development, focusing on environmentally friendly crops and sustainable trade.
The Caribbean Social Immersion Program organizes this trip in partnership with the Instituto Mayor Campesino - IMCA, and will offer the group an in-depth analysis of the Colombian reality.
Students will meet rural community organizations, coffee growers, the Nasa indigenous community, and students and programs at Universidad Javeriana - Cali. In addition, they will visit two key historical sites: the Sugar Cane Museum Providencia and Basilica El Señor de los Milagros.
Cost: US$1,300 to 1,700 per participant. (2020 prices)

Day 1
Arrival to Cali Airport.
Bus ride from Cali to Buga (1 hour).
Overnight at Instituto Mayor Campesino (IMCA).
Day 2
Travel to the town of Ginebra (1 hour)
Meetings with the community, women and ecological groups organization - Village of Barranco and village of Costa Rica.
Overnight at IMCA.
Day 3
Trip (2 hours) to the Jesuit run Javeriana University and Social enterprise store in Cali.
Sightseeing in the City of Cali.
Overnight at IMCA.
Day 4
Trip to La Marina, Tulúa (1 hour).
Day with the Association of Small Coffee Farmers of La Marina.
Overnight at IMCA.
Day 5
Trip to Vereda La Cascada (1.5 hours).
Day with the Nasa indigenous community.
Overnight at IMCA.
Day 6
Visit to Providencia Sugar Cane Museum.
Visit to the Basilica el Señor de los Milagros.
Salsa Dance demonstration and crash course.
Overnight at IMCA.
Day 7
Trip to Vereda Los Medios, Buga (40 minutes).
Visit to Agroecological Farm El Guatín.
Visit Guadalajara river.
Overnight at IMCA.

Trip Evaluation.
Depart to Cali.
Flight back to the United States.
